Great memories of the best Uncle in the world...

Late last evening, I learnt of the death of my dear Uncle Hubert. He was 88 years young and although he had had a heart condition that we knew was worsening, he lived life each day. I have wonderful memories of this gentle and benevolent man who was in many ways like a father to me. He was a farmer and his love of animals and the gentleness with which he made his way through the world were an inspiration. He is in my heart...

Staying in the moment...

With forty-four days until we hope to drive south to our boat in Indian Town FL, I'm concentrating on being in the moment. So far today, that's meant meditating, walking in the old woods near our home with Dave, drinking lots of water and re-reading part of Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth. (For this, I returned to the forest...I just couldn't resist.)

Then I spent a bit of time figuring out how many nuts and seeds we'll need for the six months we hope to spend at anchor in the aqua-marine waters of The Exuma's, a chain of islands in The Bahamas. The calculation seemed easier this year. Last year was our first leading a raw/living foods lifestyle on the boat. It felt as though we were farmers at sea.

And now, it's time to immerse myself in tiny, tiny stitches...my ninety-two year-old father's new winter wardrobe needs a few modifications.

One moment at a time, we're getting ready to move to our winter home at sea.
